A city of Joburg councillor recently took time out to spend a day with a child battling rare and life threatening diseases.
Michael Sun, the City of Joburg MMC for Public Safety recently took a day off to spend with Gideon, a 9 year old little boy battling rare and life threatening diseases from birth.
Sun cancelled all his morning’s work meetings so he could take Gideon on an adventure of a lifetime.
“I am told by Gideon’s mom that the dosages of medication he has to endure are double that of what a grown man can take.”
“Yet this brave little man is facing life head on and his dream is to become a firefighter one day.”
After hearing this, Sun decided to employ Gideon for the day. The councillor arrived at Gideon’s birthday party at the Lanseria International Airport, and issued the brave determined dreamer with a custom-made blue Fire-and-Rescue jumpsuit reserved only for the bravest men and women of our City.
“It’s the young brave ones like Gideon that reminds us why becoming a firefighter, police officer or paramedic is not just about a job but a calling.”
The day all fell on the first day of the Chinese New Year and as a tradition, Sun offered his well wishes to Gideon, in hopes that he may live a long life with good health.
“I am so touched by the many kind hearted people and businesses in our community that came together to make Gideon’s dream come true.”
“For what I missed at work today, I got a million times back in Gideon’s smile.”
So heart warming, so glad I was pointed to your page today.
