Give her a paintbrush and watch her transform a plain canvas or wall into a work of art! From her start as a top art student in Johannesburg, Kerri Liebovitz has embarked on a global adventure, painting vibrant murals and sketching captivating scenes across some of the most beautiful destinations.
Johannesburg, South Africa (07 August 2025) – At just 23 years old, South African visual artist Kerri Liebovitz has embarked on a global creative adventure, transforming hotel walls into immersive murals, filling sketchbooks with evocative scenes, and earning her place in gallery exhibitions in her home city of Johannesburg!
According to her proud dad, David Liebovitz, Kerri’s artistic journey began at Edenvale High School, where she graduated top of her class and was honoured as Best Art Student in 2020.
There after she continued on her artistic journey at Wits University, where she completed a four-year Fine Arts degree, where her technical skills and artistic vision matured.
In early 2025, Kerri set off to explore the world, and her art has blossomed across many countries. In Gardone Riviera, Lake Garda in Italy, Kerri created Ora, a sweeping mural on the façade of a boutique hotel, evoking fiery Mediterranean sunsets, calm waters, rowboats, grapevines, and the lightness of a dreamlike escape.
In Istanbul, Turkey, she filled her sketchbook with scenes that capture vibrant bazaars, Byzantine architecture, and street life, now on display at a local backpackers’ lodge.
As for now, Kerri is currently painting vibrant hotel murals across the island, where turquoise seas and island life influence her evolving palette in Gili Air, Indonesia.
Back at home, three of her original paintings are exhibited at the Latitudes Centre for the Arts (LCA) in Johannesburg, as part of the third annual Skin exhibition curated by Latitudes Online.
This Women’s Month showcase spotlights voices in contemporary art, with Kerri’s work featured among a select group of emerging and mid‑career artists.
Kerri will be returning to South Africa on 22 August and hopes to find more gallery work and inspire more art lovers with her brushstrokes and assertive talent.
