Kindness matters: A story about a local store, an elderly South African and some tea!

A story about a local store, an elderly South African and a cup of tea is reminding South Africans that a simple act of kindness can go a long way!

Elaine Samson accompanied her 90 year old mom, Mary May, to run a few errands when a local store offered a moment of kindness and a cup of tea that will remind you why South Africans are so special.

Samson had taken the day to help her mom with some personal admin and decided to pop into the local store to buy her some groceries and treats.

“I accompanied my mom to the bank to collect her new bank card today. I then took mom to Pick n Pay Plumstead to browse along the aisles and buy mom some treats. Mom refused a milkshake : She asked, Dont they sell a cup-a-tea here?”

Samson suggested she ask the store manager who said ” No lady, we dont sell a cup-a-tea here, but we can SERVE you one. The manager then requested that the Customer Services employee make a cup of tea for May.

“Mom was very happy when another store manager offered her his office chair to relax on while she enjoyed her tea and biscuits.

Such small acts of kindness make a HUGE impact on our senior citizens’ lives. It really makes their day”

Since that day it has become a tradition for Samson and her mom to have a cup of tea with the manager when ever they visit the store!

How special!

Kindness really does matter and it’s stories like these that remind us that some simple generosity and gentleness can completely change someone’s day, while inspiring others in the process.
