Reach For A Dream grants 5-year-old Lethabo from Winterveld a day filled with fun, proving that dreams have the power to brighten lives
Winterveld, South Africa (13 August 2025) – Living with a life-threatening illness is never easy, especially for a child. Yet five-year-old Lethabo from Winterveld faces each day with a spirit that refuses to be dimmed. Born with a hole in his heart, he has learned to fill his world with joy. His name means Happiness, and it is exactly what he gives to all who meet him. Just smiling ear to ear.
When the Reach For A Dream Foundation set out to grant him his very own Dream Day, it became clear that this was going to be a celebration as vibrant and full of energy as Lethabo himself.
The day began at Total Ninja, a playground of obstacle courses, trampolines and colourful climbing walls. Experiencing the ultimate ninja experience.
That dream took him straight to Toys R Us. Each aisle held new possibilities cars, puzzles, action figures, games. It was a wonderland. Then, to his delight, the Toys R Us team surprised him with his very own mini party.
Lethabo’s unforgettable day is one of many made possible by Reach For A Dream, a foundation that has been bringing hope, joy and healing to children with life-threatening illnesses since 1988. By making dreams come true. Whether it is meeting a hero, exploring new adventures or receiving a longed for gifts. The organisation offers children and their families a moment of escape and a reason to believe in tomorrow.
Their work goes beyond single days, with national projects like Laughter Heroes, Dream Rooms and Dream Club providing ongoing support. From their very first dream to becoming a multi-award-winning NGO, Reach For A Dream has remained dedicated to its mission.
The foundation continues to proves every day that sometimes the greatest medicine can be a dream fulfilled.
