The Reach for a Dream Foundation is celebrating 35 years this year and looking back at some of its most memorable dreams come true; Lewis Hamilton left everyone in awe of his kindness and generosity of time.

South Africa (24 March 2023) – The Reach For A Dream Foundation has been fulfilling the dreams of children from across South Africa for 35 years. The organisation helps children between the ages of 3 and 18 who are faced with life-threatening illnesses. The work they do helps restore joy and makes a child feel like a child even if just for one day.

This year, they are celebrating many of the dreamers they have met over the past 35 years and highlighting some of the most inspiring stories.

One of those is about Dreamer Klaas who dreamed of meeting F1 driver Lewis Hamilton. The dream was a big one and the team were so honoured to be able to make it a reality, even if only for a quick meet and greet. Lewis Hamilton blew everyone away by spending extra time with Klaas, leaving many in tears.

“In 2017, Klaas – a dreamer who had been diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma – met his F1 racing hero Lewis Hamilton. Lewis opted out of just a quick meeting and handshake, and instead, spent quality time getting to know Klaas, showing him around the Mercedes garage and even inviting him to watch the Qualifying with him.

We are so grateful for the work we do, the difference we make and the hope we manifest in the lives of our dreamers.”

There are many dreamers waiting for their own dreams to come true. The foundation is committed to helping every child in need. You can follow them on social media to see all the dreams turned into reality. Some of our favourites this year so far include a little girl getting her own pink car, Spiderman showing up to hand deliver a blue bike for his biggest fan and a young man who is an aspiring DJ, being equipped with tools of the trade and meeting his radio heroes.

You can find out more about the foundation via the website here. Stay tuned as one of the foundation’s most significant annual fundraisers, Slipper Day, will be taking place soon and we will be sharing all the details with you.
