Ryan Harris woke up on the morning of his thirtieth birthday feeling more lonely than he ever had. COVID had left him isolated, and while driving to work, he realised how incredibly sad he actually was.

It turns out Harris wasn’t actually so alone, and by reaching out, he had shown bravery despite his heartbreak.

His video has been watched over four million times and the TikTokker received thousands of messages, some even from celebs!

“Happy Birthday my brother. I too am feeling this way a lot lately. Just know that you aren’t alone. But this will eventually end. I’m with you!!! – Charlie Puth

“Happy Birthday. You deserve all the love. I’ve felt exactly how you do right now… I know it doesn’t change much but I hope it helps you feel less alone.” – Lizzo

His following grew by over 70 000 overnight and many of his new online friends asked him to go live on the app so that he could spend his birthday with them! During the live, people offered him money to celebrate his day, and after some thought, Harris accepted but only on the basis that all the proceeds would be given to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

And the TikTokker managed to raise R30 000!!!

Harris has now become an advocate for mental health and wellness, and all his TikToks are in support of sharing love and kindness!
