The Midlands Police Station got a beautiful garden makeover thanks to the community project called “Love Notties” – teams worked to tidy it up and add new features.
Midlands, South Africa (03 April 2023) – The Nottingham Road Police Station got a garden makeover recently thanks to the Love Notties community project in the Midlands. This area is a popular tourist route with the Midlands Meander and it is a great source of income for many small businesses. Keeping the area clean and pretty, adds to the experience for tourists. This is why Love Notties was born, to keep everyone happy.
Love Notties is a community-founded project that addresses and works on any issues the community faces. They recently chose the local police station as the community project and worked towards making the gardens beautiful again.
“Love Notties is all about engaging with our local community and making a difference where needed. The police station is an integral and important part of our community and would therefore be one of our priorities when it came to any wants and needs.
We approached the station commander and asked if there was anything that we could help with to make their workspace a happy environment to work in and they asked if we would help with funds to replace a broken flag pole at the entrance and to help with a garden revamp. Love Notties together with the Midlands Garden Centre were only too happy to oblige and the planning started for the garden.
We raised funds for the replacement of the flagpole and thereafter started work on the gardens. Beautiful planters were ordered from Rain Queen paid for by the wonderful Love Notties donors and Jacky sponsored the gorgeous plants.
The result looks wonderful and has boosted the morale of our little police station which brings us great joy. Many thanks go to Jacky Jooste from the Midlands Garden Centre, Julie Howe and her staff and Sandra Berning for all their work in completing the project.
There are still a few things needing attention and we will hopefully be able to finish them this year.
It was an honour for us to be able to help our police station who work so hard to keep us all safe.”
The team fundraise to cover projects like this. Should you wish to get involved, you can find out more via Facebook here. They have a charity golf day event coming up in mid-May, which you can read about here.
