Bringing cheer to the ‘burbs for the past twenty years is Bryanston’s own Mrs Claus—the woman behind the famously festive Moray Drive:

Bryanston, South Africa (22 November 2023) — Festive season is right around the corner, especially if you’re in Bryanston. For almost two decades, Moray Drive has come to light thanks to the suburb’s own Mrs Claus, who meticulously decorate the street; bringing cheer to the ‘burbs.

From twinkling trees to a Christmas throne, stagnant sleighs and even a ‘Letters to Santa’ box, you’d be forgiven for thinking you took a turn straight into the North Pole. For Danielle Goff (Mrs Claus), the festive dedication is an annual love letter to her community and all those who wish to experience a slice of Santa’s kingdom right here in Johannesburg.

Danielle has been dedicated to the ‘claus’ for a solid 18 years of her own initiative. The street’s 20 houses get a makeover every year, and also acts as the motivation station for 947 cyclists.

Danielle tells Good Things Guy that the above is the reason she starts the decorating early (before December)—to keep the 947 cyclists in mind.

“It motivates them and many can’t wait to hit our road, it is a steep climb and the Christmas decorations uplifts and motivates them,” she shares.

One such cyclist, Kennedy Welani Tembo, echoed the sentiment.

Taking to social media, he shared that the ride along Moray Drive is his personal highlight of the whole cycle.

“Previously, I thought it was a community drive, but [nope], its Mrs Claus’s initiative,” he added.

So, if you’re looking for a dose of proudly local festivity, you know where to trek!
