With over 17,000 vulnerable children finding a brighter path, Mam’Khanyi’s work at Home of Hope is a vibrant proof of what dedication and the support of “real-life angels” can achieve.

Johannesburg, South Africa (27 November 2025) – Each of us is called for a great purpose. Mam’ Khanyi Motsa has embraced hers by providing safety, education, and love to vulnerable children rescued from lives of abuse and exploitation.

Since 2000, she has transformed the lives of over 17,000 children as the founder and director of Home of Hope, many of whom have gone on to become successful professionals and leaders.

“We are still standing today because of people with good hearts who hold our hands and help us move forward,” she says, looking back on her lifetime’s work.

Some of these good hearts belong to none other than Jacaranda FMs Good Morning Angels, who have embodied the spirit of kindness, compassion, and community that South Africans are known for.

Angels at Work for Home of Hope

In 2018, the news about Mam’ Khanyi’s incredible work reached the Good Morning Angels team, who shared her inspiring journey with listeners across the country. What followed was an outpouring of generosity that restored hope to her organisation and the hundreds of children in her care in Berea, Johannesburg.

The Good Morning Angels Fund donated R20,000 to help pay Home of Hope’s municipal bills and school fees.

And in a stunning ripple effect of kindness and generosity, the Business for Empowerment Trust contributed an additional R25,000, groceries, 40 duvets and pillows after hearing her story on air. Whipple donated two computers, a printer, and networking equipment to boost educational resources. Listeners also raised a further R11,000 in cash, ensuring the girls had everything they needed for months to come!

“The support from Good Morning Angels helped us a lot,” recalls Mam’ Khanyi.

“We had groceries for three months, school uniforms for the children, and we could pay our bills. It was during COVID, a very difficult time, and they were truly angels in our lives.”

2 Decades of Changing Lives

Mam’Khanyi’s story is just one of thousands that reflect the heart of Good Morning Angels, an initiative that has, over the past 20 years, built a legacy of tangible impact across South Africa.

From life-saving surgeries and school rebuilds to community upliftment and small acts of kindness, the charitable platform continues to prove that when compassion leads, transformation follows.

Since its inception in 2005, Good Morning Angels has brought together ordinary people and extraordinary generosity to change lives, one story at a time.  As the team celebrates 20 years of changing lives, the message remains simple yet powerful: kindness costs nothing, but its impact is priceless.

“My message to the Good Morning Angels team is to keep going,” says Mam’ Khanyi.

“We still need you, not tomorrow, but today. Let’s march forward together.”
