The Grace Factory in the Vaal has been working to give new moms in Government Hospital packs of helpful goodies for the last 2 years. Now they are making 700 packs.
Celebrating 2 years, the Grace Factory in the Vaal is packing 700 packs for new moms in Government Hospital. The Grace Factory is a non-profit organisation that collects baby items at locations in Gauteng, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Welkom and the Vaal Triangle.
They then pack them into little gift sets and deliver them to new moms in government hospitals all over South Africa. The packs consist of basic necessities such as clothes, blankets, toiletries, nappies and formula.
The non-profit works to supply children’s homes with these supplies as well. They focus on the homes as these are usually heavily under-resourced and always in need of supplies for their growing babies and children.
“Our long-term goal is to ensure every mom who delivers a baby in a South African government hospital receives a maternity pack and that the basic needs of children’s homes are met.”
People are welcome to send donations and some women even crochet beanies, booties, blankets and other adorable baby items. Not only does the organisation welcome donors, they welcome volunteers to help pack the packs and hand them out at the hospitals.
