The Pietermaritzburg SPCA is hosting a toy drive for their animals to help enrich their lives, so if you have animal appropriate toys to donate, this is how.
Pietermaritzburg, South Africa (05 November 2021) – Animal shelters are a great place for animals that are looking for their forever homes but being stuck in a cage all day can be heartbreaking. The Pietermaritzburg SPCA is trying hard to enrich the lives of its rescues by hosting a toy drive.
Toys bring great joy and comfort to animals. The SPCA is looking for old tennis balls, soccer balls and rugby balls. They also welcome rope toys and squeaky toys – in fact, all appropriate animal toys are welcome.
The SPCA isn’t fussy; they welcome second hand and lightly used toys as well as new ones if your budget allows. If you plan on donating a few oldies, give them a good wipe before dropping them off to save the team from having to do it.
If you have a collection of ribbons and strings, you can make some beautiful cat toys. Cats are a funny kind, and a ribbon is sometimes the best toy they could ask for.
“The Pietermaritzburg SPCA kennel residents are in DESPERATE need of dog and cat toys please!! Enrichment and entertainment make their days with us just that much better. Old tennis, soccer and rugby balls, rope toys, squeaky toys…they would enjoy them all!”
So if you have toys to donate, head to 235 Woodhouse Road, Scottsville. While you are there, see about volunteering your time to actually play with some of the animals using your donation. It would make their day!
