The Grace Factory made sure that moms with preemie babies would have a better start to the big, wide world by packing and gifting 500 maternity packs!
South Africa (26 November 2024) — On 17 November, the premature babies of the world are given additional thought, love and attention as World Preemie Day is recognised. In fact, the whole month is dedicated to these tiny tots for whom the world can be so much bigger and scarier.
For struggling mothers in South Africa—who oftentimes arrive at the hospital to give birth with nothing, let alone a preemie or maternity care pack—having a premature baby can mean a lot of additional stress.
Enter NPOs like the Grace Factory who act as the fairy godmothers to mothers-in-need. Year-round, the NPO ensures that as many mothers as possible are supported with some essentials for their new babies—from bum cream to newborn outfits and a few toiletries for mom.
During World Preemie Month, they tune the focus to the preemie babies, and this year, they did a simply spectacular job.
The Grace Factory confirmed that they were able to distribute 500 maternity across six public hospitals! These gifts touched hospitals in Germiston, Klerksdorp, Mafikeng, Polokwane, Sebokeng and Tzaneen. Distribution was supported by the South African Breastmilk Reserve, while many donors and volunteers helped make the packs happen.
It’s a heck of a job, organising all sorts of practical essentials for mom and baby, but it’s also a job that The Grace Factory knows is always well worth it. After all, how many gift packs change two lives in one go?
