The Mzansi Youth Choir have made it to the America’s Got Talent finale, and South Africans are backing our choir all the way!
Global (13 September 2023) — In case you missed the train of good news, the Mzansi Youth Choir have been on an incredible roll as part of their America’s Got Talent performances. Now, South Africans aren’t just singing the beloved Choir’s praises; but roaring those praises for the world to hear after the group made it through to the big finale.
Starting off their incredible streak with a golden bang, the Mzansi Youth Choir was awarded the Golden Buzzer at their audition for a heart-jerking rendition of Nightbirde’s ‘It’s Ok’.
The buzz of approval was historic because it was the first time in AGT history that a Golden Buzzer (a direct ticket to the semi-finals) had been granted by the public.
When the semi-finals came around, the Mzansi Youth Choir made more hearts sing with their rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Everywhere’.
Thanks to this performance, they secured spots in the AGT finale in late September. There, they will go note to note against Putri Ariana from Indonesia.
In response to the Choir’s AGT finale announcement, South Africans responded with a sea of SA flags, well wishes, virtual happy dances, song suggestions and pride—a reminder of just how much this upcoming performance means not just to the lives behind the voices, but the Rainbow Nation behind them.
