SA friends fighting to save a stray dog in Mauritius that they love deeply

Lilisha Chetty and her friends were on a holiday in Mauritius when they met a stray dog that won their hearts over. Now they want to bring her home.

A group of friends recently travelled to Mauritius for a holiday and crossed paths with “the most beautiful angel…but with a lonely heart”. They noticed a stray hanging around their resort. The dog spent most of its time on the beach around Tropical Attitude resort on the East Coast.

“We’ve witnessed it being really hard for her to find shelter and food as no dogs allowed at the resort and therefore has to be shooed away. She manages to rummage for food where she can. On rare occasions, people do try to help and play with her. But sadly people say goodbye and she’s all alone again.”

Lilisha said they had all fallen in love with the stray and decided to name her Hanna. They discussed what would happen to Hanna when they head back to South Africa and couldn’t bear the thought of leaving her alone.

“Now it’s our sole purpose to bring Hanna home to South Africa where she will be loved eternally. We opted to use this donation platform [BackaBuddy] to assist as we unable raise funds quick enough in our own capacity. We want people to know that anything is possible & there is always a way to help many other homeless dogs to get a home & to know love.”
