James de Villiers Police Story

A young South African from Ceres shared an inspirational Police story that we should all be sharing and talking about!

The Police Force in South Africa are not always celebrated and the stories trending about them on social media are not always great.

But James de Villiers shared a story involving the police which is inspiring thousands of South Africans around the country.

He took to Facebook to honour the team that had helped him & his friend out after a burglary.

“Today I want to honour South Africa’s police.

This morning at 09:30, while my friend Ruan Klopper and I were asleep in my parent’s home in Ceres, a guy in a red-shirt stole Ruan’s laptop through his bedroom’s window.

Within a minute from phoning police, three police vans came chasing down the street, and within five minutes the suspect was arrested – the laptop safely returned.

While there’s a lot of stories about police inefficiencies, today I bore witness to officers who diligently perform their duties – mostly to an ungrateful public.

You are our everyday heroes.”

The post has inspired thousands who are commenting on how proudly South African a feel good story about the Police has made them feel:

Alexander Fisher posted: “We need more positive stories like this that restore our faith and believe in those who are called to care and protect us, Salute to our SAPS women and men in uniform!”

Amelia Van De Venter commented: “Yes I agree. Honour and respect to the police. We do not appreciate how difficult and stressful their work can be. Imagine, forever involved and trying to contain all the strikes and service delivery protests. Rustenburg is hotspot at present. Krugersdorp and Overvaal school and many other places. The police experience and carry the brunt of all the zupta caused problems in this country.”

Nikki Downes added: “Yes! So many brave men and women in blue. I’m sure that we have little understanding of just how dangerous it is out there! Thanks so much for protecting us.”

J.j. Leukes said: “Well done our friends in blue. There are a lot of you guys performing excellent under very difficult working conditions. You make us the public extremely proud when hearing these wonderful news. Continue with your service to the people. May God bless you every day in your mission.”
