A spring water company in Citrusdal is helping the small town of Calvinia in the Karoo by donating 30,000 litres of water to help during this drought

The Western Cape and other parts of South Africa are being gripped by a crippling drought. Cedarberg Aqua, the bottled spring water company, stepped in to help a Karoo town called Calvinia through their water crisis by donating 30,000 litres of their fresh spring water.

Facebook user Vilma Maritz told us about the amazing act of kindness that organiser Theana Kotze and Cedarberg Aqua did for Calvinia via our facebook page,

“This week people from Citrusdal helped people in Calvinia, a drought-stricken Karoo town. At Citrusdal there is a company bottling spring water. They heard that Calvinia had a need for water so they decided to donate 30,000 litres of spring water. They needed transport and posted this on fb. Shortly after that they were offered the use of a flatbed truck which transported the bottled water and a tanker which was filled with 20,000 litres, both donations.”

The town of Calvinia is located in the Karoo about 252km drive from Citrusdal. A video was shared on Facebook of the flatback truck starting the trip to Calvinia. The truck is filled with various containers holding the much needed water supplies.

There was also a tanker filled with 20,000 litres which was dropped off at the reservoir. This isn’t the first time that the town of Citrusdal has made a contribution to the struggling town. Previously they donated a truck load of hay bales to farmers.

“Water going to Calvinia from Cedarberg Aqua. Thank you to all sponsors who made it possible.”

It’s amazing to see one town helping out another in such tough times. Seeing a whole community coming together to help out their fellow man is exactly what the country needs right now.
