Jacob Zuma is finally flying Economy in South Africa…
The latest trend on South African social media is to catch an inflight selfie with a government official. There have been numerous posts recently showing politicians and government officials ditching the private Jets and front of the plane Business Class seats for a more affordable and economical flight.
Just this past weekend, the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, made social media headlines after his Economy flight from Johannesburg to Durban on Good Friday morning.
Some said it was a PR stunt, while others praised his small act of economy flying for finally getting in touch with how officials should be using tax payers money (when needing to get to different parts of the country).
And it seems the ex-President has joined the social media craze.
Simon Hodgson, founder and owner of LOVE SA Music, was on a Kulula flight when the ex-President sat down next to him.
He immediately posted the pic with the caption: Didn’t expect my Wednesday to start like this. #manflieskulula #ikidyounot
Hodgson says that the two had 50 minutes of chatting the whole way while on the flight.
“He was actually super pleasant, even shared his mints and Pringles with me, and Matt (my son) shared his Easter eggs with him. Talked about a previous time we had met, his family, his time he has just spent at Winnie’s home, nkandla (which is where he was going) lots of chatting.”
So here’s our question… what would you have asked Zuma if you had been seated next to him?
