AfriPaw’s growing Vrygrond clinic days make a massive impact in communities where access to veterinary services can be difficult.
Cape Town, South Africa (13 August 2026) – The cold didn’t stop hundreds of pet owners in Vrygrond from showing up with their beloved dogs and cats for a day of much-needed care on 8 August.
AfriPaw and its animal welfare partners helped many families access veterinary care for their pets by assisting a total of 918 animals, including 618 dogs and 300 cats!

In communities like Vrygrond, access to veterinary care is scarce. These clinic days help the community greatly by making services accessible and bringing free sterilisation along with education around responsible pet ownership.
As with the clinic’s last success in Vrygrond, it was a group effort. This time, AfriPaw was joined by TEARS Animal Rescue, Animal Welfare Society of SA and Kitten Clinic.
This growing collaboration is part of a shared effort to make quality animal care more accessible to vulnerable communities, so that families don’t have to choose between caring for their pets and making ends meet.

AfriPaw says the work is made possible thanks to its programme partners, including the Edgard & Cooper Foundation, The Stretch Foundation and Boehringer Ingelheim (NexGard South Africa).
Helping 918 pets in a single day is incredible. Each dog or cat helped means one less worry for a family. Plus, hundreds of unwanted litters are prevented, which reduces the number of animals who may eventually find themselves without homes.
“Together, we’re making a difference — one pet, one family and one community at a time.” shares AfriPaw.
