Two very special animal welfare volunteers need a little help to make their dream school trip happen. South Africa has until Monday to do its thing!

St Francis, South Africa (27 August 2026) – What do we know about South Africans? We will always step in to help those who deserve a hand.

This time, young Cliffton (aka Prompie) and Shakira are the ones who could do with an incredible show of support!

According to St Francis Animal Rescue, the two youngsters are regular volunteers who help with outreaches and accompany the animal welfare organisation on regular walks through the Sea Vista township in St Francis.

“True animal lovers, these kids are skilled at handling sick and wounded dogs and cats and keeping them calm in the car, and at the clinic. Over time, Cliffton and Shakira have become invaluable members of St Francis Animal Rescue who go out of their way to help us whenever they can.”

In their free time, they help animals. From Monday through to Friday, they are committed primary school learners. Soon, their Grade Six and Seven classes will be leaving for an annual trip to Cape Town. Sadly, as it stands, Prompie and Shakira won’t be able to join them.

“Unfortunately, their families can’t afford the cost of this excursion at R5000 per pupil for the trip plus R1,000 for 5 t-shirts and a tracksuit – a total of R6000 each.”

A total of R12,000 needs to be raised for them to go along to Cape Town and enjoy all the fun and sightseeing that come with an exciting school trip.

St Francis Animal Rescue has appealed to the public to help make this happen for the two youngsters who have so willingly given their time to help animals in their community.

“We have until Monday to raise the funds for Shakira and Cliffton and, if you can help with a donation, no matter how small, it will bring us closer to making their dreams come true.”

We’ve seen South Africans pull through in the most amazing ways, time and time again. We are more than confident that with enough love – whether through donating, sharing the post or simply getting the word out – Prompie and Shakira can make it on their school trip.

Find all the details for donating by clicking this link. We have until Monday to help make their dreams come true!

“Thank you to all those who help to make a positive difference in the lives of those less fortunate.” shares St Francis Animal Rescue.
