Sandton Community Shows Up for Their Local SPCA Amid Water Crisis

When Sandton SPCA’s taps ran dry, residents rallied with buckets and bottles to save the day!

Sandton, South Africa (06 November 2025) – When the Sandton SPCA’s most vulnerable animals and dedicated team were suddenly left without water, the incredible local community stood up in a massive way, rushing to fill up countless buckets and bottles!

The animal welfare society sent out an urgent appeal on their socials yesterday after their essential borehole pump had broken, leaving them with a critically unstable water supply and their animals in a dire situation.

Thankfully, it wasn’t long before the message was met with open hearts who didn’t hesitate to spread the word and respond with donations of bottled and bulk water for drinking, cleaning and keeping our animals safe and comfortable.

“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of kindness and support during our water crisis. Thanks to your swift and generous response, our animals continue to receive the care, clean water, and comfort they deserve, the SPCA said.

While the water situation is not yet fully resolved, Sandton’s compassion has made all the difference.

“From all of us, furry and human, at the Sandton SPCA: thank you for standing by us when we needed you most. We’ll keep you updated as we work toward a long-term solution.”
