South African Brad Binder wowed crowds at the Austrian MotoGP in Salzburg over the weekend, taking a risk in the rain and winning the race.
Salzburg, Austria (16 August 2021) – Brad Binder risked it for the win, and it paid off! The Proudly South African MotoGP™ star, racing for KTM, braved wet weather conditions in Austria to take podium position.
Brad Binder won the Austrian MotoGP™ in wet-weather conditions at the Red Bull Ring in Salzburg, Austria. Starting 10th on the grid, the South African rider navigated a treacherous circuit as the rain went from light to heavy.
His key moment came when the race leaders elected to pit with just a handful of laps remaining in order to swap dry-weather bikes for wet-weather machines. Binder gambled and stayed out on slicks, despite the heavy rain and crossed the line in the first place.
While Brad celebrates his win without his family nearby, South Africans are waving their flags in celebration with the talented racer.
This was Binder’s second MotoGP™ win following his victory in 2020 in the Czech Republic.
The next MotoGP™ race will be at Silverstone, UK, on August 29.
