That’s a wrap on MotoGP 2024, and South Africa’s Brad Binder had us filled with pride as he ends 5th in the championship standings.
Global (18 November 2024) – The 2024 MotoGP season has come to an end, and South Africa’s Brad Binder earned 5th for the overall championship this year.
The competition was tough, so we are always proud to see a local and lekker athlete near the top of the standings. Brad has had a great season, holding onto his standing and giving fellow riders a run for their money as he out-sprinted many of them. He faced a scary crash but thankfully recovered well.
While Brad is super focused on his career, he also enjoys the little things that come with each Grand Prix. For example, having fun at the Thailand GP by racing rice tractors with teammate Jack Miller.
After Binder triumphed in a hilariously bumpy first showdown through muddy puddles around the makeshift circuit, Miller secured the second victory in the exhilarating high-speed drag race.
“Initially, the toughest challenge for us riding these things was to keep the throttle in your hand. Each time it hits a bump, I end up dropping it and then you have to try and fish it out the front. The second challenge was to figure out how far you need to push the bar to actually turn. But anyway, it was really cool!”
“My favorite part of today was probably just doing something different to be honest. It’s not often we get to race anything for fun, just to have a good time and not worry. So, it was really cool to do.” – Brad Binder

Now that the racing season is over, Brad will be coming home for some downtime. Resting and relaxing in South Africa is the best way to get ready for an exciting new season next year!
2025 kicks off in March next year. There will be 22 Grand Prix in 18 countries next year, so stay tuned!
