The Commonwealth Games are almost at an end, and on Day 9, Team South Africa earned three bronze medals and one silver medal.
Birmingham, South Africa (07 August 2022) – Day nine of the Commonwealth Games was filled with sporting activities, including athletics, boxing, hockey, and wrestling. The athletes earned a further four medals for South Africa.
South Africa currently has seven gold, eight silver and eleven bronze medals at the time of writing this. These new medals were earned by our boxing teams, athletics team and wrestling. These are the winners of medals from Day 9 of the Commonwealth Games.
- Nicolaas de Lange – Men’s Freestyle 97 kg – Silver
- Zeney van der Walt – Women’s 400m Hurdles – Bronze
- Simnikiwe Bongco – Men’s Over 71kg-75kg (Middleweight) – Bronze
- Phiwokuhle Sbusisiwe Mnguni – Women’s Over 54kg-57kg (Featherweight) – Bronze
