A caddies’ role is to support a golfer through eighteen holes, providing the correct tools for the job; a crowdfund has been started to make sure caddies can thrive in the work they are doing.

Cape Town, South Africa (02 March 2023) – Caddies play a vital role on the golf course; they offer support and sometimes a little advice, to the golfers they are employed to aid. Non-profit iCaddies, has started a small crowdfund to cover the cost of petrol for its team which works at ten golf courses around the country.

iCaddies creates employment, working as an outsourced partner with ten golf courses. They offer skills training to the caddies, to ensure there is a standardised service offered to all golfers and clubs.

“For iCaddies to operate, we rely on various fundraising initiatives and sponsorships. iCaddies manage the caddie squad on the club’s behalf as an outsourced partner, looking after the day-to-day operation of the caddies with a strong focus on the life-impacting benefits of the caddie.

By empowering the caddies with the opportunity to offer a consistently professional service, they are able to increase their revenue and ultimately provide for their families and loved ones.”

iCaddies is a not-for-profit company with a focus on uplifting caddies, providing secure employment, skills development and career support within the industry. The aim is to create positive change within the elite industry.

The NPC doesn’t take any fees from the Caddies, opting to rather raise funds through advertising on Caddie bibs and crowdfunding when necessary.

This crowdfund is a small one, with the team hoping to raise R5,000 towards petrol costs. It’s not much but it will make a big difference to the Caddies that travel on South African roads each day. The amount will cover the cost of petrol for March 2023.
