Marsha Muller covered an incredible 202.196km in 24 hours at the IAU World Championships, becoming the first South African woman to cross the 200km mark.
Albi, France (29 October 2025)- South African ultra-runner Marsha Muller has marked her name in the history books after delivering an unforgettable performance at the IAU 24-Hour World Championships in Albi, France, covering an astounding 202.196 kilometres in 24 hours. Her remarkable effort did not just break the national record but also made her the first South African woman to surpass the 200km mark in the gruelling endurance event.
For Marsha, this was a realisation of a lifelong dream.
“During my race, I remember thinking, I want to scream it to the world South Africa, I’m bringing it home for us,” she shared after the event. “May I never forget the dreamers who never get to live their dreams into reality. I did this for you.”

What made the achievement even more special was that it came on her world championship debut. Behind her success stood a devoted support crew, Stacey-Lee Haskins Pretorius and Shawny Shawn Muller, who ensured she lacked for nothing, even during the most difficult moments of fatigue.
“Great achievements need even greater support structures. I’m so grateful for the businesses, friends, family, and even anonymous donors who helped make this dream a reality. You gave me the opportunity to bring this home to South Africa.”
She also extended her thanks to Athletics South Africa (ASA) for the belief they placed in her, and to her loved ones who stood by her throughout months of preparation. Her heartfelt message to her children carried the essence of her journey.
“I hope you always chase your dreams. Remember, the stars are not your limits. Go above and beyond.”
Marsha hinted that her journey is far from over.
“Yes, I already have another challenge up my sleeve for 2026.”
