A 65-run win over Ireland in a T20 series boosts momentum as South Africa looks ahead to the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Paarl, South Africa (09 December 2025) – The Proteas Women kept the energy high in Paarl on Sunday as they wrapped up the T20I series against Ireland with a confident performance at Boland Park. It was one of those afternoons where cricket, crowd energy, and a touch of Winelands magic all came together perfectly.

Faye Tunnicliffe was at the heart of it. Playing in a place that feels like home to her, she looked completely in her element as she steered the innings with a composed 51 off 42 balls. Her knock laid the platform for South Africa’s 201-5.

The stands were buzzing throughout. For Faye, the warm welcome from the Boland faithful clearly meant a lot. She connected with the young fans too, especially after receiving an armband filled with messages from supporters before the game. This gesture set the tone for a special outing.

With the ball, the Proteas kept things controlled. Ireland managed 136-3 in their reply, with Chloé Tryon leading the charge and applying key pressure through the middle overs. Even as Orla Prendergast battled her way to a steady unbeaten half-century, South Africa never looked shaken, easing to a 65-run victory and a 2-0 series lead with one match still to play.

But beyond the win, the real focus is what lies ahead.

The team has their eyes firmly on the T20 World Cup in England and Wales in 2026. After stumbling at the final hurdle in the last two editions (losing to Australia at Newlands in 2023 and to New Zealand in the UAE in 2024) the hunger to go one better is unmistakable. Performances like this, where younger and experienced players click seamlessly, are exactly what the squad needs as they keep sharpening their game.

For now, though, Paarl offered a perfect reminder of what this team can do. And the crowd brought all the vibes.
