The DHL Stormers flyhalf has been recognised among Europe’s best after a standout pool stage, becoming the only South African on the shortlist for the 2026 Investec Champions Cup Player of the Year.
South Africa (22 January 2026) – South African flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu continues to make waves in European rugby, earning a well-deserved spot among the 10 nominees for the 2026 Investec Champions Cup Player of the Year award.
The 23-year-old DHL Stormers player has been turning heads throughout the pool stages of the competition, putting him firmly on the global radar.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, Sasha is also shortlisted for the SA Rugby Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards, making him the only South African to feature among Europe’s best this season.
The judging panel was made up of rugby figures from across the globe, including former players and broadcast experts from clubs like Racing 92 and London Irish. By reviewing standout performers from both the Investec Champions Cup and the EPCR Challenge Cup before selecting the nominees, their focus was on players who shaped the pool stage with consistent impact.
Sasha’s nomination comes after a strong run with the Stormers, where his leadership on the field and strategic play have helped define the team’s pool stage campaign. Despite stiff competition, including his own teammate Paul de Villiers, Sasha’s skill set him apart.
