Prague, Czech Republic, hosted the 2024 Dance World Cup Finals, and South Africa placed eighth globally.

South Africa (10 July 2024) – The 2024 Dance World Cup Finals have concluded and South Africa walked away with a standing at 8th. This accomplishment is thanks to numerous awards and high scores by local performers who got to represent South Africa at the world finals.

Overall, South Africa collected 9 Gold, 10 Silver, and 9 Bronze medals by the end of the competition, which was finalised on July 6, 2024.

According to Madelein Taljaard, South Africa took the top 4 dancers (including duos, trios and groups) in different age groups across different styles to compete in the largest dance competition in the world. 9500 dancers from 54 different countries competed at the final this year, highlighting just how well South Africa did.

South Africa’s first Gold medal for the competition was secured by a dance studio from Pretoria, Nü Dance. The Children Lyrical Group, photographed in the title image, placed first out of 37 groups from around the world. These talented young dancers were overjoyed by their accomplishments, and not long after, more gold medals started being added to South Africa’s tally.

“The group, trained by Naledi award winner Nelmari Bornman and esteemed choreographer Evan van Soest, scored a whopping 94.5% to beat groups from England, Scotland, Ukraine, Ireland, Mexico, Germany, Spain, among others” – Madelein Taljaard

Several South African dance schools and dancers got the chance to bring pride to our country at the competition and we can only say thank you to each and every dancer who flew the flag in Prague.
