South Africa has won the bid to host the 2025 Speedsoft World Cup thanks to positive media coverage and local passion.

Johannesburg, South Africa (24 August 2024) – Sport is more than just games and competition; it has the incredible power to unite us, to uplift our spirits, and to shine a spotlight on our talents and the beauty of our country. And it really does. South Africa has a storied history of using sport to showcase our nation on the global stage, and now, we’re gearing up to do it again.

That’s right, South Africa has been chosen to host the 2025 Speedsoft World Cup!

We know what you’re thinking… what the hell is Speedsoft?

Well, we’ve got you covered.

Speedsoft is a fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled version of Airsoft, a sport where players use realistic-looking replica firearms in simulated combat scenarios. Think of it as a cross between paintball and tactical training but with an emphasis on speed, precision, and teamwork. It’s a niche sport, yet it has a rapidly growing global community, with players who are as passionate about their craft as any other athletes on the world stage.

Just a short while ago, the South African Speedsoft team made their way to the Netherlands to compete in the 10th NSL Nations Cup. This global tournament brought together the best of the best in the world of Speedsoft, and our South African team was right there in the mix.

Good Things Guy reported on the tournament but the article didn’t just tell a story; it sparked something much bigger. The exposure our team received from that coverage was instrumental in putting them and South Africa on the map in the Speedsoft community.

“Your initial story about us (on Good Things Guy) helped get us the exposure we needed, and now, hopefully, we can find the right exposure to get in touch with the right people to help make this happen,” said Bruce Hudson, Founder and CEO of the Largest Airsoft Organisation in the Southern Hemisphere.

The result? South Africa has now been awarded the prestigious bid to host the 2025 Speedsoft World Cup.

This isn’t just a victory for the Speedsoft community. It’s a win for all of us. Hosting a World Cup, even for a niche sport like Speedsoft, brings immense benefits. It’s a chance to showcase South Africa’s hospitality, culture, and landscapes to the world. It’s an opportunity to boost local tourism and businesses, to create jobs, and to foster a sense of national pride. More than that, it’s a signal that South Africa can excel in any arena we set our sights on—whether it’s rugby, cricket, or a rapidly growing global sport like Speedsoft.

This World Cup will be a first for our country, and it’s an incredible opportunity to introduce more South Africans to the excitement and community spirit of Speedsoft.

With the bid now secured, the next step is ensuring this World Cup is a resounding success. This will take the support of everyone—from the government to local businesses, and of course, from the people of South Africa. We have the talent, the infrastructure, and the spirit to make this World Cup unforgettable.

Let’s get behind our team, support this incredible opportunity, and show the world what South Africa is capable of. This is just the beginning of something truly special, and as we look forward to 2025, there’s no doubt that South Africa will once again prove that we’re a nation of champions—on and off the field.
