Two weeks ago, Tasneem Solomons made history by becoming the first South African to win at the WEPF World Championships.
Blackpool, United Kingdom (10 July 2024) – Tasneem Solomons’ name has been etched into the history books by becoming the first South African to win a title at the World Eightball Pool Federation (WEPF) World Championships. She won the Women’s Singles World Masters Champion title.
The WEPF World Championship was hosted in Blackpool at the Grand Hotel from June 18 to June 27, 2024. It saw teams and individuals from around the world compete for various world titles.
Tasneem Solomons, from Bonteheuwel in the Western Cape, has been playing pool for the past 20 years. She credits the sport with keeping her off the streets in her youth and is overjoyed to have won the title.
She faced Wales’ Kirsty-Lee Davies in the finals, and by keeping her cool and measuring up her opportunities, Tasneem was able to bring home the win. With three balls on the table and the eight ball, Tasneem calmly sunk them all in one round, beating out Kirsty-Lee’s two balls and the eight.
