The World Transplant Games will be taking place in Perth in 2023; the South African Transplant Sports Association is hosting a raffle to get SA to the games.
South Africa (03 November 2022) – The World Transplant Games will be happening in Perth, Australia in 2023. The South African Transplant Sports Association (SATSA) has launched a raffle to be able to raise funds for the athletes that will be sent to represent South Africa.
The World Transplant Games were established in 1978, and the Federation celebrates successful transplantation and the gift of life through unique and inspiring events – namely the Summer and Winter World Transplant Games.
“The World Transplant Games give recipients the motivation to strive towards full rehabilitation through exercise, camaraderie and healthy living. They also provide them with a way of saying ‘thank you’ to those who made it all possible – the donors, their families, health professionals, researchers and carers… Without them, there would be nobody on the starting line.” – World Transplant Games
The South African Transplant Sports Association is hosting a raffle which will give away a Norco Storm Mountain Bike Worth R11000,00! The funds raised will be used to support athletes and ambassadors who are transplant recipients and hope to represent South Africa at the Perth Games.
The raffle is running from the 31st of October 2022 to the 6th of November 2022. The raffle closes at 12:00 pm on the 6th and the draw will take place later that afternoon. You can purchase your raffle ticket here. The association is aiming to sell 1000 raffle tickets, so far they have managed to sell 374.
SATSA was founded by a group of organ recipients in 1994 under the then name “The Transplant Games Association of South Africa”. It was founded with the hope of promoting a healthy, active lifestyle and involvement in sports.
The association changed its name to The South African Transplant Sports Association in 2006. It is a recognised sporting association in both South Africa and the world. The games are held every two years and South Africa has attended each one to date.
SATSA is a non-profit organisation representing transplant recipients, donor families (including living donors), Health Care professionals involved in organ donation and transplantation, corporate businesses involved in transplantation and corporate business involved in funding and sponsorships.
You can support the association by purchasing a raffle ticket as linked above or checking out the website here.
