Zalika Methula has a Dream of Representing SA as a Diving Champion at the Olympics one day, but before then, she needs to get to Kyiv, Ukraine.
Elton Hill, South Africa (21 October 2021) – Winnie Methula is extremely proud of her daughter Zalika. Zalika is a talented diver, and her dream is to represent South Africa at the FINA Diving World Junior Championship. The sporting event is to be held in Kyiv, Ukraine, from 2-9 December 2021.
The FINA showcase is a biennial and sees competitors from some of the world’s leading diving nations, including the USA, England, China, and Canada.
According to her proud mom, Zalika will be making history as the first South African black female junior diver to qualify for this event in over a decade, and this is fantastic news. She will be competing in the u15-u16 age category in the 1m and 3m springboard and in 3m synchro diving events.
Zalika’s love of diving started at the age of nine. It has since gone on to become her dream to represent South Africa at the Olympics.
“Competing internationally at this young age is a vital step in the development of her diving journey. As a family, we are not financially able to send her on an international self-funded tour to represent her country. For this reason, we appeal for financial assistance from our friends, family, acquaintances, and anyone else that would like to see Zalika reach her goal.”
All funds raised will go towards her flights, visa costs, accommodation, food, and sports kit. It takes a village to raise a child so let’s get behind this diving champion. You can support Zalika’s diving dream here.
