One young Afrikaans student has directed the winds of change…

Johannesburg, South Africa (28 August 2025) – A Stellenbosch schoolgirl has taken the internet by storm for her confident, side-splittingly funny Afrikaans speech about farting. Or, peoping, as we’ll call it from hereon out.

The viral video of young Berné Peters, posted by Hoezit Samelewing, has already racked up over 1.5 million views and counting. In it, she delivers a hilariously argued speech that tackles the controversial topic of poeping with full confidence.

Her teacher’s in stitches. So is the whole class. So is the country.

Berné unpacks why poeping really isn’t something to be ashamed of.  Why is it such a controversial topic, she asks. We should just let the winds of change blow.

Peters, with comedic effect, says that poeping is natural. It’s necessary. And it’s actually good for you. In fact, according to her research, healthy people should poep up to 10-20 times a day! Who knew?

No wonder the world is so tense.

She jokes that many grumpy people are actually just full of wind. The longer you wait, the stinkier it gets. And that embracing your inner poep could be the key to happiness.

Honestly? She might be onto something.

The comments are pure gold. Some commenters said they laughed so hard they let out a poep.

Others praised Peters for the flawless delivery of her ‘mondeling’, a task that sends shudders through many of us, even decades after graduating from school. She rocks it and doesn’t lose a stroke of confidence.

When in doubt, let it out. Get a grip and let it rip. ‘n Poep is ‘n moet. That’s what we learned today.
