South Africa’s top skateboarders and emerging talent battled for honours across the Junior, Women’s and Men’s divisions at Thrashers Skatepark.
Pretoria, South Africa (23 September 2026) – Pretoria was the place to be for South African skateboarding fans this weekend, as Thrashers Skatepark hosted the 2026 Street Lines Skate Tournament.
The competition brought together some of the country’s top skateboarders alongside a new generation of riders, with skaters battling it out across the Junior, Women’s and Men’s divisions. And there was no shortage of big tricks.
The competition tested both consistency and creativity. During qualifying, skaters had two 45-second runs, with their best score counting towards the leaderboard. The finalists then faced two more runs and four Best Trick attempts, with their strongest run and top two tricks contributing to their final score.

The judges looked at difficulty, consistency, style and how well each skater used the park.
The Junior division remains an important part of Street Lines, giving young skaters the chance to experience a professionally run competition and test themselves against their peers.
This year’s title went to Luyanda Vukapi, while Ayanda Ndlovu finished second and Sereno Khunyani third. The Women’s division delivered another closely fought final, with Ashley Gindre taking her first Street Lines title.
Thabiso Mashiyakgomo claimed third, while four-time defending champion Boipelo Awuah finished second after leading going into the Best Trick attempts. The Men’s division was just as competitive, with 15 finalists battling for the title.
Cape Town’s Ethan Cairns took third, while Johannesburg’s Terrence Khumalo secured his first Street Lines podium with a second-place finish.
But the biggest breakthrough belonged to another Cape Town skater. After years of competing, Ashton Banwell claimed his maiden Street Lines Men’s title, combining technical tricks, creativity and consistency to finish with the highest overall score.
His winning performance included a Backside 180 Nosegrind to Fakie, Tre Flip, Frontside Blunt and Nollie Crooked Grind, before he added two successful Best Tricks to seal the victory.
And the action didn’t stop with the three main divisions. The day finished with the Insta360 Best Trick contest, where skaters took over the Stair Set for one final showcase.
Marci Rodrigues stole the show with a Frontside Bluntslide Kickflip Out to Fakie on the Double Set Rail, earning the Best Trick win and an Insta360 X4 action camera.
With another successful edition in the books, Street Lines continues to give South African skateboarders a platform to push themselves and show just how much the sport continues to grow locally.
