After more than 20 hours of travel, Banyana Banyana have officially touched down in Morocco ahead of another exciting WAFCON campaign.

Casablanca, Morocco (21 July 2026) – Banyana Banyana have officially arrived in Morocco, and the countdown to another Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign is well and truly on.

After a journey of just over 20 hours from South Africa, the national women’s team has safely touched down in Casablanca, where the next chapter of their continental journey begins.

The squad settled into their hotel on Sunday and resumed preparations on Monday as they gear up for the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which runs from 26 July to 16 August.

Head coach Dr Desiree Ellis recently named her final 26-player squad after trimming down a larger training group, admitting it was one of the toughest selection processes yet.

“It is never easy choosing the squad for any tournament, but it is something that has to be done and unfortunately, we cannot take all the players with us. Bringing down the squad to 31 was very difficult, but even more so to come up with the final 26. We are satisfied with the selection we made, and we have complete faith that they will deliver on the mandate.”

South Africa heads into the tournament with confidence after another solid build-up, having entered camp on 12 July to sharpen every aspect of their game before making the trip north.

Drawn in Group B, Banyana Banyana will face Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Tanzania as they look to book a place in the knockout stages.

The squad knows exactly what it takes to compete against the continent’s best, and with a blend of experienced campaigners and exciting talent, they will once again be aiming to make South Africa proud on one of African football’s biggest stages.
