Travel creator shares highlights from her South African adventure, from exploring Cape Town and the Garden Route to spotting wildlife on a self-drive safari.

South Africa (13 March 2026) – Sometimes the best travel moments are the ones you never expected.

For travel content creator Kara Wildbur, known online as Okay Kara Travels, a recent trip through South Africa turned into exactly that. A journey filled with surprising discoveries, unforgettable wildlife encounters and a growing appreciation for the country’s landscapes.

Over the past few months, Kara has been sharing glimpses of her South African adventure with her followers, from exploring Cape Town to driving the scenic Garden Route.

Along the way, she even managed to squeeze in a quick stop in Johannesburg, turning a seven-hour layover into a mini city adventure.

But one of the biggest highlights of her trip came during a visit to Addo Elephant National Park.

In a video shared with her followers, Kara couldn’t contain her excitement after spending the day exploring the park, especially after realising that visitors can experience a safari in a slightly different way. By driving their own vehicles through the park, creating a self-guided wildlife experience.

“I’ve posted a bunch of videos about this experience already because it was seriously just the BEST day,” she told her followers.

It’s the simple joy visitors feel when they realise just how many adventures are waiting around the next corner that might make one want to discover more in their own backyard.
