Franschhoek, South Africa – Chef Farrel Hirsch, Head Chef at Greenhouse, and Chef Tronette Dippenaar, Head Chef at The Marine, Hermanus, delivered a winning performance at the 3rd annual ‘Clash of the Chefs’, held at Marlenique Estate in Franschhoek.

The team wowed an esteemed panel of judges, namely Chef Matt Manning, Sebastian Janssens, and Ben Ungermann of MasterChef Australia fame. The duo was crowned victorious after a 60-minute cook-off that saw teams prepare dishes using ingredients drawn from a mystery box.

Proceeds for the event have gone to this year’s chosen charity: Safe Hands Animal Rescue Franschhoek (SHARF), a small animal welfare organisation in the Franschhoek Valley, which aims to sterilise as many animals as possible, along with providing animal welfare workshops to local communities and assisting animals in distress and in need of medical attention. This year, over R100 000 was raised at the Clash of the Chefs charity auction for Safe Hands Animal Rescue.

Farrel and Greenhouse recently participated in Restaurant Week, which took place from 18 July until 4 August, and was voted the Best Restaurant of Cape Town Award of Restaurant Week for Winter 2019! The guests rated Greenhouse with a 9,9 for cuisine, a 10 for service and a 10 for ambience, scoring an average of 10 – the highest of any restaurant in Cape Town.
