South Africa (26 May 2026) – I have 3 pairs of slippers… A uni-slipper, which lives under my desk, my garden slippers and my general house slippers. Slippers are basically part of my uniform, but for many, that isn’t the case, so this Friday, the general public is getting excited to wear their slippers out and about. And I don’t blame them!
This Friday is Slipper Day, a day dedicated to the comfiest footwear and for the best reason! To help raise funds for children facing life-threatening, life-limiting and terminal illnesses. The Reach for a Dream Foundation helps fulfil the dreams and deepest desires of these children. Funds are used to bring seven dreams to life each day.
Dreams are given to children nationwide, ranging from meeting a celebrity hero or flying in a plane to being a vet for a day. This brings moments of hope and joy to children living with illnesses such as organ failure, cancer and heart conditions. In 2025, the Foundation fulfilled a total of 2,510 dreams.
