L-Shaan Titus - This Talented Young Man Has a Bright Sporting Future!

L-Shaan Titus is a rising rugby star from the small town of Knysna who is about to take on the world. The u13 player is off to Paarl and then Italy!

Knysna, South Africa (12 June 2023) – L-Shaan Titus is already playing rugby at a level beyond his years. The u13 rising star is set to take on new challenges, far from the comfort of his home and school. The Knysna Initiative for Learning and Teaching (KILT) are rooting for him every step of the way.

KILT was established in 2016 to help build an empowered community through education and became an NPC in 2022. It was started by Ms Gill Marcus after she retired as Governor of the Reserve Bank. Knysna-based school principals approached her and asked for help with problems they faced in their schools. Together they were able to address many of the problems these schools faced. Today, KILT runs 18 projects in 17 government schools in the Knysna District.

Since starting KILT, many children have been given the chance to shine! From heading overseas to compete in spelling bees, to reaching for the stars and the unknown in Cape Town; the young minds they support, have had opportunities to take on their most exciting challenges, often not seen in small towns. KILT makes sure every child they work with, has a chance at greatness!

L-Shaan Titus, a rising U13 rugby talent hailing from Hornlee Primary School, is igniting rugby fields. ⚡️
Coached by Gayline Simmers as part of KILT’s Afterschool Sport Project, L-Shaan has achieved remarkable success, gaining invaluable exposure to different schools. Through this he earned South Western District provincial colours and secured a scholarship to one of the country’s top schools!

He was also handpicked for the prestigious Kobus Wiese Super Series in Paarl, where he was named ‘man of the match’ three times and is now ready to make his mark at the upcoming Craven Week rugby tournament.

Later this year with KILT’s support, he will be embarking on an unforgettable rugby tour to Italy that will showcase his talent and passion to the world.
