The CCID’s donation bins are filling up around the city and their selected charities are receiving the donations just in time for winter.
Cape Town, South Africa (13 June 2023) – The Cape Town Central City Improvement District’s (CCID) “Show You Care” campaign is seeing the placement of collection bins at key businesses around Cape Town to collect donations for the homeless to get through winter. The donations are being handed over to various charities; this week’s collections went to The Hope Exchange and Youth Solutions Africa.
As a non-profit organisation, the CCID operates with its own board of directors and liaises across both the public and private sectors, working together with each to develop, promote and manage the Cape Town Central City.
The Show You Care campaign was started during the pandemic as a way to support the city’s homeless and destitute residents. They partnered with various charitable organisations so that the aid collected and funds raised, would go directly to the people who needed it most.
The latest project through the Show You Care campaign is ‘Hope for the Homeless’. The CCID provides donation bins to CBD businesses where people can place their donations of clothing, bedding, and pretty much anything useful to charities. These donations are then shared between the selected CCID charities.
“You can donate winter clothes, shoes, bedding and non-perishables by dropping the items in one of 20 branded wheelie bins which will soon be rolled out in key CBD building foyers.”
Two donation bins have been placed in Cape Town, one at the ‘Clark’s Bar and Dining Room’ and one at ‘The Rainbow Academy’. Businesses in the Cape Town CBD are invited to reach out for their own donation bins.

The campaign is going to make a huge difference for people in need this winter. Especially because the Western Cape winters are so harsh and wet.
