South African music festival to be kicked off by a duo of unexpected stars: a talented petrol attendant and a street busker.

Pretoria, South Africa (12 August 2023) – It’s a story that warms the heart and brings a smile to your face – a tale of dreams realized and musical talents uncovered. A talented petrol attendant and a street busker are opening Jacaranda Day 2023!

Six years ago, Jacaranda FM introduced a young South African named Stefan Benz, now a sensation in the L.A. music scene, who dared to dream of singing on the grandest stage of his life. Fearlessly, he graced Jacaranda Day 2017, etching his name in the record books as the youngest-ever performer to do so.

Zoom ahead to the present year of 2023, and the ever-passionate Martin Bester has been on a quiet mission. He’s been on the lookout for hidden musical treasures, eager to introduce them to the heart of Mzansi at the eagerly anticipated Jacaranda Day this weekend.

“Our ears and hearts have truly gained from this journey,” he shares with emotion, unveiling the two remarkable acts set to open Jacaranda Day 2023.

In a heartening tale of viral fame, 22-year-old petrol attendant Jeremiah Sibiya from Boksburg captured the online world’s attention as videos of him serenading motorists while they filled up their tanks spread like wildfire. His voice, a gift from the heavens, struck a chord with many.

But the stories of talent don’t end there.

Meet Kutlwano Yika, a young busker whose melodious tunes first echoed through the digital avenues of the ‘I Love Fourways’ Facebook group – a virtual hub frequented by numerous Jacaranda FM listeners. After sharing his soul-stirring melodies on Martin’s Breakfast Show, Kutlwano’s life took a harmonious turn. No longer a busker, he now weaves his magic at the captivating Prison Break Market, gracing audiences as a paid musician.

Tugging at heartstrings earlier this year during a heartwarming appearance on “Breakfast With Martin Bester,” these two budding stars have captured our collective imagination. Martin, driven by an unyielding desire to make dreams come true, is eagerly awaiting the crescendo of their journeys – a moment they’ll forever cherish when Jacaranda Day 2023 comes alive. In this age where community and culture shine brightly, the power of fostering talents within our fold becomes a beacon of hope. Martin Bester and the entire Jacaranda FM family stand united in their unrelenting passion for uplifting gifted individuals, allowing them to shine as the stars they were meant to be.
