Premature babies are tiny and need extra tiny clothing to keep their little bodies warm; the Grace Factory Vaal is collecting preemie clothing for World Prematurity Day in November.

Vaal, South Africa (15 September 2023) – In preparation for World Prematurity Day in November, the Grace Factory Vaal is collecting preemie clothing and blankets to add to their newborn baby packs that get handed out to mothers in need.

November is Premature Awareness Month, with the 17th being World Prematurity Day. The Vaal chapter of the organisation has started working towards filling their bags for premature babies and they need tiny clothing to add to each bag.

The Grace Factory is an NPO that gives practical assistance to moms and babies in need during the first few weeks of motherhood and infancy. The organisation packs beautiful gift sets and delivers them to new moms in government hospitals all over South Africa. The packs consist of basic necessities such as clothes, blankets, toiletries, nappies and a few things for mom.

Most of the items come from either direct donations or purchased from funds raised. Keeping a good stock of these items is essential for the Grace Factory to keep new moms and newborns stocked with their own essentials.

“World Prematurity Day is coming up in November and we need your help to pack maternity packs for mothers of premature babies. 💜

Giving birth to a premature baby is extremely difficult, even more so when you lack the essentials for yourself and your teeny tiny baby. Mothers often travel very far to these hospital units in emergency situations and rarely have practical support during their stay.

You can help by donating any of the following much-needed items:

  • Premature or newborn clothing, vests, beanies and booties
  • Receiving blankets”
