Strawberries, smiles, surprises and Spiderman! These are just some of the little (yet kinda big) things that made young cancer warrior Joshua’s Dream Day the BEST day!
Mossel Bay, South Africa (05 June 2025) – If you’ve been in need of a bit of a pick-me-up this week, we hope this little boy’s bright smile will bring a little brightness your way!
Living with kidney cancer, nine-year-old Joshua’s condition hasn’t taken away his appreciation for life’s simple joys or stopped him from being the cheerful, chatty boy who lights up every room he walks into.
The Mossel Bay boy was recently treated to a really special day, his very own Dream Day, by the Reach For A Dream (RFAD) team.
During chemotherapy, Joshua found particular comfort in his favourite fruit, strawberries. As part of the special day’s activities, he was taken on a joyful trip to a strawberry farm alongside his grandmother.
With a big smile and always ready for adventure, he handpicked the ripest berries before enjoying a treat of chocolate-dipped strawberries.
According to Reach for a Dream, the highlight of the day came when Joshua was handed a beautifully wrapped box. Though he playfully guessed what might be inside, even joking that it could be a DStv decoder, what lay inside was far more exciting.
When Joshua unwrapped it, it revealed his dream: a brand-new laptop packed with his favourite games, Roblox and Minecraft.
The day ended with an extra magical touch: a special video message from his favourite superhero, Spiderman, sending love and encouragement.
