Team South Africa enjoyed a memorable international campaign with plenty of gold medals at the IMMAF Dipanda Angola World Cup.
Angola (23 September 2026) – South Africa had plenty to celebrate at the 2026 IMMAF Dipanda Angola World Cup, with four local fighters returning home as champions.
JJ Karagiannidis claimed gold in the Men’s Featherweight division at 65kg, producing a first-round submission on his way to the title.
He was joined at the top of the podium by Mduduzi Nkomo, who won the Men’s Flyweight division at 57kg and brought another championship belt back to Team South Africa.
There was also success in the youth divisions, with Caitey Karagiannidis taking gold in the Youth A 57kg category.
Josef Moosa was also crowned an IMMAF Dipanda Angola World Cup champion in the Youth A 57kg division, adding another gold medal to South Africa’s tally.
The results made for a strong showing from Team SA at the international competition and another encouraging moment for the country’s growing MMA scene.
From the senior divisions to the next generation coming through, South African fighters made sure the flag was well represented on the podium in Angola.
