Mzansi, this is your sign to slow down. Black Crown gin ‘n tonics have brewed up something seriously cool; an Afrobeats track that isn’t just catchy, it’s composed from the soothing sounds of plants, designed to help South Africa ‘put your crown on ice’.

Johannesburg, South Africa (10 July 2025) – Whether you’re an Afrobeats fan or just happened to have your music playing on shuffle mode, chances are you’ve heard Be Sure, the trending song that’s got the people moving to its soothing sounds.

Featuring the lyrics and vocals of Ama Gaisie, this “Afrobeatanicals” track has already been playlisted on five South African radio stations and broken into the charts of 34 African countries in less than two weeks.

What makes this song truly remarkable is its calming sounds inspired by plants; the African botanicals, associated with Black Crown gin ’n tonics and the therapeutic beats of Afrobeats, cue the birth of  ‘Afrobeatanicals’.

“As the brand for the creator, we advocate for our audience to ‘Put your Crown on Ice’, in order to push pause on the daily grind and stresses associated with being always, always-on,” says Candice van den Bosch, Brand Director of Black Crown.

With South Africa ranked among the most “stressed out” countries on the planet (we rank 69 out of 71 in terms of being a distressed nation according to the Stellenbosch Business School); unique songs like Be Sure remind us to take moments to slow down from the daily grind.

“We produced an Afrobeats track – using Plantwave sound device technology – with the bed music composed from the plants of African botanicals, associated with our gin ’n tonics. From juniper, rosemary, and citrus, to name a few, we created a world first: Afrobeatanicals or Gin ‘n Phonics,” Van den Bosch adds.

Scientifically, Afrobeats is one of the most calming genres. It typically ranges between 95 – 110 BPM (beats per minute). A 2019 study in the Journal of Music Therapy found moderate tempo music lowered perceived stress by up to 46 per cent, compared to silence or high-BPM tracks.

So the next time life gets hectic, don’t forget to show up for yourself, too. This is your sign to slow down, “put your crown ice” and stream Be Sure now.
