The Drakies have set off to Scandinavia, and just moments before their flight, the boys transformed Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport into their own personal stage, with a stunning, culturally-inspired performance.
Johannesburg, South Africa (18 September 2025) – After months of preparation, the Drakensberg Boys Choir finally set off for Scandinavia yesterday!
Their spirits soaring with excitement, the Drakies embarked on a highly anticipated tour that begins this week. A glimpse of their excitement and energy just moments before departing from South Africa was captured on a now-trending video, showcasing the boys do what they do best: put on a show!
They took over OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg with a lively performance, singing and dancing to a rehearsed routine that paid tribute to South Africa’s heritage, armed with cultural memorabilia.
Their voices bellowed beautifully together, their moves in sync, the talent undeniable, and the energy raised the roof! The boys were a sight to behold, proving they were more than ready to take their incredible show to the global stage and wow the world!
From the majestic peaks of the Drakensberg, the choir now has its sights set on the grand concert halls of Stockholm, Linköping, Örebro, and Uppsala.
These exceptional young performers will take audiences on an unforgettable musical journey, blending classical masterpieces, African rhythms, and modern chart-toppers into one powerful performance.
A special thank you goes out to the Gauteng families who hosted the boys and staff ahead of the trip, as well as got them to OR Tambo International Airport in good time.
