Life doesn’t have to be so serious; sometimes, silly is better!
Cape Town, South Africa (13 October 2025) – What happens when a group of friends make it their mission to camp across Cape Town? All the shenanigans!
An adventurous group of friends who go by the ‘Venḓa Boys In Cape Town’ on social media, are always up for some time outdoors. The group, who by working hours are all professionals in corporate, prefer to spend their weekends together, exploring the Western Cape by camping and hiking, hanging out and having fun.
That’s what life is all about. Making memories with friends and having a lekker laugh.
And a lekker laugh we had, when the group recently posted about a touch of fun they brought to their recent camping trip. It involved a lucky packet of funky sunglasses, and each of them picked a random pair to wear for the rest of the trip.

It ended in the friend group enjoying the most wholesome fun together – laughing, smiling and sporting their shades. Moments like this one make trips with your nearest and dearest even more fun, with many more laughs.
When you learn to embrace your silly side, stress melts away. It’s science.
Since Dezemba is just around the corner, here’s a list of fun ideas to try with friends!
1. Mystery Hats
Everyone brings (or thrifts) a weird or outrageous hat, tosses them in a bag, and each person wears whatever they pull out for the day. Cowboy hat, giant sun visor, beret, Viking helmet. Anything goes. You can do this with wigs, too.
2. Dress Up
Set a small budget (say R100 or less) and draw names. Each friend has to buy an outfit or accessory for the person they picked and they must wear it for at least an outing or activity.
3. Temporary Tatts
Buy a few sheets of wacky temporary tattoos. Blindfolded, each person must stick one on wherever they land. Each friend gets a turn. Everyone rocks their random tattoos for the trip.
4. Cocktail Roulette
Each person mixes a drink using three random ingredients from the cooler. Everyone has to try a sip. It’s often gross but always hilarious.
5. Photo Day
Pick a random theme from a hat (eg. ‘superheroes,’ ‘rock band,’ ‘grandparents on holiday’) and everyone has to dress or pose accordingly for group photos that day.
6. Pick a Mascot
Each friend brings a small, bizarre item (like a garden gnome, pot plant, or troll doll). One is chosen as the group mascot and must appear in every group photo for the trip.
7. Weird Snacks Only
Each person is responsible for bringing the strangest snack they can find at a shop. Go wild, bright blue chips, mystery-flavoured soda. Everyone has to try each one.
8. Snap a Silly
Bring one disposable camera. Each person has to take at least one totally random or funny photo per day without showing anyone. The chaos is only revealed when the film gets developed.
It doesn’t have to be ‘deep’ and it doesn’t have to cost a thing – making silly memories is free, and they’re often the ones we remember most fondly.
