For children across Langa, the Vusa Rugby and Learning Academy’s new DigiBus is more than a mobile classroom. It is where some will use a computer for the very first time and a space to build confidence, learn new skills and discover different possibilities for the future.

Cape Town, South Africa (16 October 2026) – What’s better than one innovative mobile classroom bringing digital literacy education directly to children in underserved communities? A new and improved one!

This Tuesday, the Vusa Rugby and Learning Academy unveiled a brand-new DigiBus in Langa – and what an incredible afternoon it was!

For many children growing up in Langa, access to computers, digital learning resources and extra academic support is limited. Sponsored by Coronation, the new DigiBus is helping to change that.

This purpose-built mobile digital classroom is equipped with 44 laptops and interactive teaching technology. It travels to five primary schools in Langa, bringing quality educational programmes directly to learners during the school day.

Since 2022, the programme has helped children develop their English, mathematics, coding and digital literacy skills, building strong foundations for future learning.

“Through our long-standing partnership with Coronation Fund Managers, we bring technology-enabled education to children who might otherwise have little opportunity to access it.

In October 2026, the partnership entered an exciting new chapter with the launch of a purpose-built DigiBus and the sponsor’s commitment to support the programme for a further ten years.

Many children in South Africa learn in their mother tongue during their first three years of school before moving to English as the main language of instruction in Grade 4. For children with little exposure to English, this transition can be difficult. Suddenly, they are expected not only to understand English, but also to use it to learn Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences. Without a strong foundation, they can quickly fall behind.

The DigiBus supports learners through this transition by helping them build the reading, comprehension and language skills they need to participate confidently in class. They study English literacy, coding, digital skills and mathematics. Each programme combines interactive platforms with a dedicated team, making learning engaging, accessible and paced to each child.

Around 1,300 learners from Mokone, Moshesh, Zimasa, Siyabulela and Thembani Primary Schools are set to benefit from the programme every week, potentially opening the door to thousands of opportunities.

For some children, the DigiBus is where they use a computer for the first time. For others, it is where they discover that they can read, solve a problem or master something they once thought was out of reach.

Vusa extends its appreciation to every person, partner, supporter and educator who has played a central role in this initiative.

“This beautiful new mobile classroom represents so much more than technology. It represents opportunity, confidence and a commitment to giving children access to quality education, regardless of their circumstances. The DigiBus has already been changing the way children learn in Langa. Yesterday was a celebration of how much further we can go together.”
