Who needs to blend in when you can make everyone smile instead? A South African man living abroad, armed with his vuvuzela, has us laughing out loud after trying to assimilate alongside a Scottish man playing bagpipes.
Global (28 October 2025) – You can take the Saffa out of South Africa, but you simply can’t take South Africa out of the Saffa – and nothing proves this better than a moment of pure, side-splitting genius captured on video!
The funny video shared by Saffa Sisterhood, courtesy of Clarice Joubert, shows a man dressed in full Scottish attire, expertly playing his bagpipes during what appeared to be a street parade.
Right next to him was a South African man holding a vuvuzela, which he decided to blow as his way of blending in the best way he knew how, lol!
The post was hilariously captioned:
“When you move to another country and they ask you to ‘assimilate’ but you are South African.”
The video has garnered over 290K views, and it didn’t take long for South Africans everywhere to light up the comments section with their trademark humour and pride. Here’s just a taste of the laugh-out-loud reactions:
“When you can’t hide yourself. Being a South African, shared Nonceba Ncebakazi Mnguni.
“Hahaha..I swear you can’t take us anywhere,” said Mhleli Jonga.
“What’s missing is an ululating Aunty behind you,” wrote Kazie Sali.
“We are seriously a special kind of People,” commented Zweli Da Zwelist Daniel.
Arg man, why blend in when you can stand out in the most gloriously South African way, right?!
