The Santa Shoebox Project has confirmed that 76,565 children have been matched with boxes for 2025, just shy of this year’s target of 80,000.

South Africa (08 December 2025) – That figure represents thousands of South Africans choosing to show up for children they may never meet, but whose names they selected with every good intention and care.

It represents volunteers, donors, workplaces, families, schools and strangers who all carry the same hope that every child should feel seen and loved.

Each shoebox contains the eight essentials. A toothbrush, toothpaste, a bar of soap, a washcloth, an outfit, educational supplies, sweets, and a toy. And importantly, the magic of knowing someone thought of you by name.

For many recipients, these items are not guaranteed in their daily lives. Receiving them in a decorated box, wrapped in love and care, means even more.

While this year’s pledges haven’t quite reached 80,000, hitting 76,565 boxes pledged is still an extraordinary achievement in a year where need continues to grow.

Whether you pledged one box, ten boxes, or shared the campaign with someone who could, you’ve helped move the world closer to a festive season where more children feel valued.

76,565 smiles are already on their way!

“A million smiles start with one box. Each Santa Shoebox shared this season became a story of joy, laughter, and love. Because of you, little hearts are happy, and festive magic is alive and well.” shares Santa Shoebox Project.
